Subjects and projects include labor and working people particularly in Detroit, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Appalachia and perhaps elsewhere on the East Coast; and work based in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on criminal justice, policing, jails, and prisons (including photographs and audio for his Take a Picture, Tell a Story project); photographs of workplaces and labor for the California Department of Industrial Relation (DIR); healthcare and paramedics (including his First Contact project); gay and lesbian weddings in San Francisco in 2004 (his Pioneer Hearts project); the homeless in San Francisco; and the people of the Philippines, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Haiti, among other locations.
